Senior Account Manager

Mighty Citizen is the branding, marketing, and digital agency for mission-driven organizations. We believe in thinking deeply, experimenting often, and getting it right the first time. We help nonprofits, associations, universities, and government agencies more deeply connect with their audiences, increase their revenue and relevance, and improve their communities.

As our Senior Account Manager, you’ll help build, maintain, and grow our amazing roster of association, higher-ed, government, and nonprofit clients. Additionally, as a new role, the Senior Account Manager will help develop guidelines and recommendations for a successful and long-standing account management practice within our organization.

  • Location: Washington, DC (preferred), Austin, TX, or remote

  • Base Salary: $80,000 – $95,000 dependent on experience

  • Bonuses and Commission: Substantial commission level and profit bonus

The impact you’ll make:

  • Create a set of Account Management processes, guidelines, and recommendations to be used for the new program within Mighty Citizen.

  • Process and manage client sales inquiries including but not limited to scheduling introductions, needs analysis, proposal presentations, etc.

  • Manage the entire proposal process for existing clients including drafting proposals, delivering/submitting proposals, and presenting both in-person and remotely. It is likely that this position will travel several times per year.

  • Lead the decision-making process with clients by conducting follow-ups, answering questions, and providing additional information in a timely manner.

  • Lead the contracting process for existing clients by crafting, delivering, negotiating, and securing all agreements, and handing off a project to the production team for onboarding.

  • Maintain and build relationships with clients by regularly scheduled check-ins and distributing feedback to the project team and VP of Client Services.

  • Regularly explore and pitch new opportunities with existing clients.

  • Work collaboratively with project managers to stay abreast of current projects and to identify opportunities and growth areas.

  • Work closely with the internal marketing team to create strategic marketing initiatives in support of growing existing client opportunities.

  • Grow brand awareness and existing sales opportunities by routinely attending networking functions and conferences, and following up with existing client opportunities, including in-person meetings.

Expectations:

Unless specifically noted, not every expectation is required to be qualified for this role. We are looking for a combination of this skill set. If you have many of these skills, but not all of them, please feel free to apply.

  • 5+ years of professional experience managing accounts in a client or prospect-facing role.

  • 3+ years of professional experience working directly with clients in an agency setting.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • General knowledge of branding, marketing, communications, and web design principles, strategies, and tactics. You’ll need the ability to speak with clients about their challenges in these areas and recommend solutions.

  • Experience using Client Relationship Software (CRM). Mighty Citizen is currently using Hubspot, for which training can be provided.

  • Experience using common productive and project management tools (Microsoft Office, Google Drive, email programs, project management systems, etc).

Desired skills and expectations:

  • Preferred experience in mission-driven industries such as nonprofit, education, association, or government.

  • Commitment to high-quality service and building strong client relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed specific goals, specifically increasing revenue among our existing client base.

  • Active participant and contributor to a variety of strategic sales and marketing initiatives to support the new account management function of the business.

  • A history of successfully growing client relationships in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.

  • Highly competitive and motivated to succeed.

  • Ability to speak and present effectively in-person and remotely to large groups of key decision-makers. This position must have advanced verbal and written communication skills.

  • A positive attitude with team members and clients.

  • Proactive, organized, and can juggle multiple projects at once.

  • Ability to manage time effectively; and focus on details.

  • Ability to work independently or with our collaborative team, without direct supervision.

  • Ability to work in an office or home environment as well as to travel to client offices.

  • Willingness to take responsibility and share ideas for improvement of agency work.
