Digital Marketing Strategist

The Digital Marketing Strategist supports the Marketing team with strategic insights and implementation of digital advertising campaigns for multiple clients. Working closely with the Director of Marketing, the Digital Marketing Strategist contributes to campaign strategy and development, audience research, competitor and market analysis, and reporting of campaign performance on an ongoing basis.

Previous experience working with higher education institutions such as universities, colleges, and community colleges is highly desired.

Location: U.S. Remote or Austin, TX office
Salary:
$80,000 – $90,000 dependent on experience.

The Impact You’ll Make:

  • Work with clients to understand their digital marketing needs by facilitating and/or leading digital audits of clients’ SEO/SEM, social media, and Google Ads/Analytics.

  • Identify and develop target market segments through research and social listening tools, including building audience personas, and producing competitor and market analysis.

  • Develop and support campaign strategy, working closely with the Marketing Strategist and Director of Marketing.

  • Collaborate with the UX team in the development of customer journeys to inform campaign development and digital advertising tactics.

  • Implement and manage PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns (retargeting, display, search, etc) using Google Adwords, Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, and other social channels.

  • Prepare budgets for digital ads, and manage and adjust ad spend for multiple campaigns.

  • Analyze web performance data, gather social listening insights, and monitor KPIs to evaluate campaign health, advising on the delivery of optimizations and/or making adjustments when needed.

  • Knowledgeable in creating UTMs, using Google Tag Manager, Data Studio, and digital tools such as Hotjar, CrazyEgg, and Optimizely.

  • Deliver campaign performance reports for multiple clients 30-60-90 days post-campaign launch, measuring results against defined business objectives.

  • Contribute to the review and improvement of existing internal systems and processes as the Marketing team grows, staying abreast of industry changes and trends and helping the team forecast possible obstacles.

  • Represent the agency as a subject matter expert (SME) at conferences and events, as needed.

  • Other tasks as necessary to make you and the company more successful.

Expectations

Unless specifically noted, not every expectation is required to be qualified for this role. We are looking for a combination of this skill set. If you have many of these skills, but not all of them, please feel free to apply.

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in similar roles. Agency experience is a plus, but not required. Experience working with associations, nonprofits, higher education, or government agencies is a plus, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Business, Marketing, or related field; or commensurate experience in areas referenced above.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to tactfully deliver and accept honest criticism.
  • Significant experience with Google Tag Manager, Google AdWords & Analytics (certification required).
  • Significant experience gathering and using marketing data, such as keyword research, industry reports, and competitive analysis.
  • Ability to manage time and projects effectively with a focus on the details and minimal supervision.
  • Significant experience creating and presenting analytics reports.
  • Experience with creating and administering earned and paid social media campaigns, including Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
  • Experience with Google Search Console and other technical SEO tools preferred.
  • Experience with email marketing and one or more popular marketing automation platforms, such as Hubspot, Eloqua, Pardot, Marketo, or others, preferred.
  • Previous experience implementing A/B testing and conversion optimizations desired. Experience with migrating Google Universal Analytics to GA4 is highly desired, but not required.

Our Hiring Process:

We want our hiring process to be fair, equitable, and positive for all candidates. And, we want to have a great hire at the end of it! Typically, it takes a final candidate 4-8 weeks to complete our hiring process. In today’s market, we know that is slower than most companies but it’s important to us that we all come out better for it in the end. Here’s a look at the expected timing of our hiring process:

  • 2-4 weeks: Collect resumes

  • 1 week: Initial phone interviews (30 minutes) with 5-10 candidates

  • 1-2 weeks: Virtual interview (60 minutes) with 3-5 candidates

  • 1-2 weeks: Third, and likely final, virtual interview (60 minutes) with 2-3 candidates

  • 1 week: Check references, official offer, and negotiation
